My theories about Bodyguard, going in to the final

So tonight is the night we've all been waiting for. It's nearly time for the finale of BBC1's Bodyguard, the series has gripped the nation (everyone on my Twitter feed, anyway) for the past few weeks. And there are certainly a lot of questions to be answered. Here are five predictions for what will be unveiled:

1. Vicky's new boyfriend is part of it all.

He has been mentioned in each episode yet we haven't had even a glimpse of him yet. Surely David would want to meet the man hanging around his kids, especially since his job is protecting people? Vicky also had keys to David's flat and someone had got in to replace the bullets in his gun with blanks, and that someone could be her boyfriend. I thought he would be Richard Longcross until Vicky was visited by him at the hospital, so he could be part of the Veteran's Peace Group.

2. Julia is alive.

When a main character dies, you usually see their death, or their body in the morgue, or even their funeral. But we've had none of this with Julia. We've only seen her mother being told the news by a doctor and then heard about her very private funeral on the news. It's all a bit fishy. My potentially wild theory is that she is being kept safe until they find out who keeps trying to bump her off. The police commander can't be trusted so it's probably not her, but then if it is MI5 looking after her, why did they have no idea where the kompromat that they gave her was?

3. David is involved.

In Line Of Duty, I changed my mind about Lindsay Denton's guilt all the way through and I finally decided that she wasn't involved in the drive-by murder of the witness - but then it turned out to be her-wot-dunnit. Right now, I'm not entirely convinced David is behind all of this but there it would also make sense. There were the leading glances when Nadia was looking at the photographs, David being told by the assassin to 'finish the job', the apparently highly moral and professional bodyguard having sex with his employer. I don't think he has masterminded the plots but he very well could be helping to carry them out.

4. Chanel's criminal family are involved.

It was pointed out that RIPA 18 would also affect the dodgy underworld so it would be in their interests for Julia, the bill's engineer, to be off the scene. But I think their involvement is more likely to do with blackmailing the PM about the sexual assault info on the kompromat given to Julia. Chanel could be making contact with David to find out where it is, which would be especially interesting since he actually has it now.

5. It's all been a dream, a terrible dream.

Poor old Dave will suddenly wake up on the train at the start of the series, shaken after his realistic nightmare. How annoying would that be?!
